We've seen a significant increase in these incidents recently, particularly to cars parked outside garages and on the street outside homes. Most of these vehicles were stolen right out of the owner’s driveways. This issue is widespread, making it even more important to share this post with those you know—both within and beyond our community. We need your help to keep our community safe.
Recent Insights:
• Average time of crime: 1am to 3am
• Target neighborhoods: Small lot neighborhoods close to major highways
• Percentage of incidents involving unlocked vehicles: 83%
• Top stolen items: Wallets, purses, guns, laptops
Follow these simple steps to protect your belongings:
1. Lock Your Car: Always lock your vehicle, even if you're just stepping away for a moment.
2. Remove Valuables: Take out any valuables, such as wallets, purses, guns, and laptops.
3. Hide Remaining Items: If you must leave items in your car, keep them out of sight in the trunk or glove compartment.
4. Park in Well-Lit Areas: Choose well-lit and secure parking spots whenever possible.
Tell your family, friends, and neighbors to follow these precautions too. By spreading the word, we can all work together to make our community safer and protect our property.
Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance.
